Sacred Santa Mindful of Santa Claus – a symbol of the sacredness of generosity and lovingkindness – I am aware of the presence of God. As I think of Santa’s sack of goodies, I think of the timeless value of welcoming the stranger, sharing in forgiveness and peace, and opening the heart in joy and delight. The “visit of St. Nicholas” and the “gifts of the Magi” happen for me every time inner wisdom honors the newborn Christ in my soul. Just as children hang their stockings at Christmas, trusting they will be filled with good things, I give thanks in advance for the blessings God has for me this Christmas season. |

Like lights on a string of Christmas lights, we are all connected to the same Power Source. Although we are many shapes and colors, together we make such a beautiful light. Every single bulb on this human string of lights is essential to light up this Tree of Life. Let the circuit be unbroken! Let every Christmas light shine bright! |

Mary Said A Mary Prayer Magnify my understanding so that as I conceive Your divine idea, I receive it. Magnify my realization that nothing is impossible for You. Magnify Your pure love in my heart. And so it is, and so I let it be. |

Wisdom from the East As inner wisdom illumines the mind, true seekers cross beyond bondage and difficulty. Seeking Truth above all else, awakening souls are not afraid to leave dream-thinking far behind. They discover the Secret Place of the Most High as the Light eternally shining within every soul. Food for the Journey In the Bible, we read that Jacob prospered, for he had vowed to share of all that he received, acknowledging God as his Source. Throughout the Torah, the lesson is given that God is our inexhaustible Source of all good. Jesus, the Master Teacher, said that we are not to worry about what we will eat, but seek first God’s kingdom and everything else we require would be provided. He said that the measure we measure with would be measured back to us: “pressed down, shaken together, and running over!” |

Can't Hurry the Harvest I do what’s mine to do and let it be, for with every thought and deed, I am planting seeds. When I do my work and simply trust, whatever is not of Spirit will pass away and that which is of Spirit will come forth in right timing. The fullness of time comes the moment I know that thoughts are things and that as I sow, I reap. Whatever is good will grow, according to my active faith; there’s no need to hurry the harvest. |

Storm Proof The more it rains and the deeper the flood waters, the higher I rise. When the storm rages, I fly away on wings of faith. Let the storms come, for my house is built on the rock of faith. Let it rain, for God is my refuge and shelter, and I am storm-proof. |

They Promised! God promises are big promises, but nothing is too hard for God. I believe that whatever I have the consciousness to conceive, I now receive, without exception. I believe God’s promise of protection and fulfillment for I have a fire-tried faith. Okay, God. I believe Your promises for me as I speak this affirmation in faith. So, I’m waiting for my happiness! |

Creating a Monster We are made in the image and likeness of God, so our thought creations are whatever we name them to be. What we think about, we bring about. Whatever we fear, we name a “monster,” but Love redeems, protects, empowers, and transforms. Praise God, the Creative Life in and through the universe, little “monsters “ – for our every notion puts energy in motion! |

You're On! Life has prepared me well for the challenges I am meeting right now. I break free of heartaches and self-doubt. I rise to the occasion of this moment. I am no longer held back by blame or broken down plans. I hear and answer my calling. My time is now. If not me, who? If not now, when? |
Sun, 13 October 2013
Whats the Problem? Life is a school: every “problem” is a lesson opportunity and the tuition is well-spent. I get it! I remember that God is my Source and I am teachable. Every “problem” is the result of forgetfulness of my spiritual nature. I am ready to go “home.” The Father’s House – Divine Mind – is all Good, all Love, all the time. God doesn’t change: I do. Problem solved! |

Expecting? Negative expectations come to nothing, while positive and loving thoughts are manifesting now. Every good thought, like an angel presence, goes before me to make my way easy, safe, prosperous, and happy. I deny the stumbling blocks of doubt, fear, and worry, and instead I build up a strong and positive consciousness that paves the way to good outcomes. I reflect on the good I expect, and as I conceive it, I receive it – or something even better! |

Shine! I dwell in the realm of divine ideas that shine with infinite possibilities. We are all among the “chosen ones” to bring divine ideas into manifestation. The divinity that shines in the midst of us lights the way for all the world. That true light is shining now. Let it shine! |

No Private Good We’re all in this together. Those who bless me are also blessed and the smallest kindness comes back multiplied. The Golden Rule is our standard of life. There is no “private good,” for, as we believe together, we receive together from God, our Source. |

Living Sanctuary It feels like home to be together in Unity. We share our “highs” and our “lows” so we can celebrate, comfort, and heal together. Life doesn’t have to be so serious. We make time to play. Though it can feel hard to say “goodbye,” we are happy to have found “forever friends” and we always look forward to being together again. There is an unbroken connection between us – a Living Sanctuary. |

DIY (Do It Yourself) Spiritual principle works when I work it. God works through me to will and to do whatever God directs me to do. I of myself can do nothing. Spirit in the midst of me does the work. The prayer of my heart is this: through the thoughts of my mind and the works of my hands, Thy will be done. Then all that I do becomes a labor of love. |

Good Growing Wild In the Gospel of Matthew, we read where Jesus said: “Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them” and “Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin. But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them” and “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry.” So, no worries! My good is coming to me, easily and effortlessly, over calm seas and under grace, in perfect timing. God is my Source, instant, constant and abundant. My good is growing wild! |
Sun, 18 August 2013
Priceless In the Gospel of Matthew, we read that Jesus likened the kingdom of heaven, the realm of divine ideas, to a treasure hidden in a field or a pearl of great price, and He taught that this kingdom is “at hand.” I am ready to succeed. I recognize my worth and I am ready to shine the special light within me that is priceless! |

Make Room for Your Good I willingly release what I held onto yesterday to make room for the good God has for me today. As I keep open and receptive, good flows to me and through me continuously. I fearlessly make room for my good, and I am ready to receive it. I give freely and I receive freely. As I believe, I do receive! |

Hero's Journey “What would I do if I knew that I could not fail? If I believed, would the wind always fill up my sail? How far would I go, what could I achieve, trusting the hero in me? If I were brave I’d walk the razor’s edge, where fools and dreamer’s dare to tread, and never lose faith, even when losing my way. What step would I take today, if I were brave? . . . What if we’re all meant to do what we secretly dream? What would you ask if you knew you could have anything? Like the mighty oak sleeps in the heart of a seed, are there miracles in you and me? If I refuse to listen to the voice of fear, would the voice of courage whisper in my ear? What would I do today if I were brave?” I am brave! (Lyrics from “If I Were Brave” by Jana Stanfield) |

“Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways” (Job 22:28 KJV). Jesus said: “Only say the word . . .” (Mt. 8:8, NAB). “With my thoughts, I build my life. Words I say come back to me; so, I choose my words carefully. What you say is what you get – a lifetime guarantee. I look within, I make the choice. I take a breath and lift my voice. As I speak, my words have power and my life opens like a flower. Words and thoughts are seeds that grow, this is why I know that my every notion puts energy in motion!” |

What Kind of World Our good thoughts, words, and actions increasingly multiply in all directions, manifesting the highest reality that we can envision together. Practicing spiritual principles in my thoughts, words, and actions, I teach and I learn abundant living. Practicing the Presence of God, I move from “us against them” to “all of us together!” True to my highest ideals for all God’s children, I now affirm: God bless America – and everybody else! |

I am restless for freedom. With each new morning come new opportunities for growth. Through each experience, I am called to pursue my spiritual destiny. Wherever I go, there I am, ever on the move to find inner peace. Yet, the more teachable I become, the less I resist changes, and the easier my journey. Ships are safe in harbor, but that’s not what ships are for. |

With just a little faith, mountains are moved. Even through my tears, I still believe that God is good, all the time. I look for good outcomes, even in fearful circumstances. My faith is in the silver lining, not in the storm. |

No More Blues Neither anger, resentment, jealousy, nor fear can give me the blues, for praise lifts my spirit. I fast from negative thoughts and words and I feast on good ideas and positive words. Clothe me in happiness in place of sadness, with an optimistic outlook instead of negativity. I am willing to rise up into such a positive consciousness that I lose the blues and choose joy! |

Make Room for Grace Inspired by Sue Riley and Jana Stanfield's lyrics to “I Made Room for Grace.” I stop resisting. I make room for grace. I just step aside, open up a space, and make room for grace. Now the blessings arrive every day, since I made room for grace. |

Earth Care “Dream of a day when . . . the Earth can be peaceful again . . . . Each of us has the power to bring about changes . . . What can we give the Earth that we haven't given in the past? – a way to live here on Earth – make it last and last and last. Dream of a day when we can live in communion . . . without fear. Awaken a way to get all of us working together and know that the time when the Earth can be peaceful is near And know that our thoughts and our actions are honest and clear And know that the people on Earth will be safe from all fear Know that the time when the earth can be peaceful is here.” From the lyrics to “Earth,” by David Roth |

Here & Now & Wow! Jesus did not teach us to wait for answers that might come “someday.” He taught us to pray, “Give us today our daily bread” (Mt.). Right now and right here, God is our All-sufficiency. He taught that the Kingdom of Heaven is “at hand” (Mt. 4:17). and He promised the receptive soul, even from the cross, “Today you will be with me in Paradise’" (Lk.). Right here and right now, we dwell in the presence of the goodness of God. When He told the parable about the man who gave a big feast and invited everyone, He said, “Come, everything is now ready'” (Lk.). The time is now and the place is here for us to accept God’s invitation to abundance of all good to feed our soul. Remember His words: "I am with you always” (Mt.). Right here, right now, Jesus Christ is as present as ever, as real as ever, as alive as ever! Wow! |

Running on Empty? “The Prayer of Faith” (a Unity Classic) by Hannah More Kohaus: “God is my help in every need; God does my every hunger feed; God walks beside me, guides my way Through every moment of the day. I now am wise, I now am true, Patient and kind, and loving, too; All things I am, can do, and be, Through Christ the Truth, that is in me. God is my health, I can't be sick; God is my strength, unfailing, quick; God is my all, I know no fear, Since God and Love and Truth are here.” Running on Empty? “The Prayer of Faith” (a Unity Classic) by Hannah More Kohaus: “God is my help in every need; God does my every hunger feed; God walks beside me, guides my way Through every moment of the day. Rise Up! “You are my light. You are my joy. You are my strength. I rise in You. You are my hope. You are my love. You are my peace. I rise in You. Let every heart be lifted higher. Let every soul now be inspired to rise in You! You are the force that lifts the eagles' wings . . . . that makes my heart to sing . . . . that turns an acorn to a tree. You are the power working miracles in me!” (Resurrection prayers inspired by lyrics written by Claudia Carawan) |

“When the great crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, they took palm branches and went out to meet him, and cried out: ‘Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ . . . . So the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from death . . . went to meet him, because they heard that he had done this sign” (John 12:12-18). Into Your hands, God, I commend my Spirit. |

Your Green Thumb On the morning of St. Patrick’s Day, here at Unity, we are all honorary Irish, and all invited to be blessed by the wearin’ of the green. In our Scripture, we find so many references to the blessings of “green:” “The pastures of the plain are green” (Joel). “Like green leaves the just flourish” (Proverbs). “Blessed is the he who trusts in the LORD, whose hope is the LORD. He is like a tree planted beside the waters that stretches out its roots to the stream . . . . its leaves stay green” (Jeremiah). “In green pastures you let me graze; to safe waters you lead me” (Psalm 23:2). King David’s last words were these, that somehow sound right spoken with a brogue: “The spirit of the LORD spoke through me; his word was on my tongue . . . . ‘He that rules . . . in justice . . . is like the morning light at sunrise on a cloudless morning, making the greensward sparkle after rain’” (II Samuel 23:2-4). May the road rise up to meet you! “God blessed them, saying: ‘Be fertile and multiply . . . . See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it . . . to be your food; and to all the . . . living creatures . . . I give all the green plants for food’" (Genesis). You are divinely gifted with a green thumb for growing great ideas! |

Jesus & Women In the midst of a culture where it was considered shocking for a man to speak publicly with a woman who was not a relative, Jesus acknowledged the pure Self of every soul. When the Canaanite woman – an outsider -- begged Jesus to heal her daughter, at first He seemed hesitant, but when she beseeched Him, He spoke the word for the daughter’s healing. I am willing to be healed because I am worthy. I am worthy to be healed because I am willing. Jesus’ Pharisee host was shocked when a woman of the city anointed Jesus’ feet at a banquet, but Jesus replied that she was forgiven because she loved so much. I am forgiven because I love. I love because I am forgiven. When Jesus asked a Samaritan woman – with whom Jews would ordinarily have had no dealings – to draw water from the well for Him, He told her about the living water of His Truth teachings. I seek Truth because Truth alone satisfies me. Truth satisfies me because I seek only Truth. When the scribes and Pharisees asked Him for a judgment about a woman caught in adultery, He said that the one among them who was without sin should cast the first stone. I do not condemn because only the Christ is innocent. Because the Christ is innocent, I am not condemned. |

Healing Going On “And Jesus said to the centurion, ‘You may go; as you have believed, let it be done for you.’ And at that very hour (his) servant was healed” (Matthew 8:13). Jesus “took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. Putting spittle on his eyes he laid his hands on him and asked, ‘Do you see anything?’ Looking up he replied, ‘I see people looking like trees and walking.’ Then he laid hands on his eyes a second time and he saw clearly; his sight was restored and he could see everything distinctly” (Mark 8:22-5). The Canaanite woman said, “‘Please, Lord . . . .’ Then Jesus said to her in reply, ‘O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.’ And her daughter was healed from that hour” (Matthew 15:27-8). “Immediately the man became well, took up his mat, and walked. Now that day was a sabbath” (John 5:9). “I am becoming stronger. I am becoming whole. I walk in beauty, in the healing light of love” (from the lyrics of “The Healing Light of Love” by Penny Nichols). There is a healing going on! |

We Are Unity How do we “keep the unity of the spirit”? We do this not just by putting up with one another, but by “bearing with one another in love” (Ephesians 4). How are we “brought to complete unity” (John 17)? We do this not just by belonging to the same “team,” but by beholding the Christ in one another. How do we become “God’s chosen people . . . all together in perfect unity” (Colossians 3)? We do this not just by attending the same church, but by learning to live by the universal laws that Jesus demonstrated. How do we make life on earth “good and pleasant” (Psalm 133)? We do this not by pretending everything is okay, but by actively living our faith, choosing to express our unity with God and one another. When we do this, then we are Unity! |

How's that Working 4 U So, I ask myself, “How’s that working for you?” Life is supposed to work! When I look for validation of this principle, I take a good long look at my own life. When I am focused on the good, only good can come to me. When I seek spiritual understanding above all else, everything else works out for my highest good. When I work for God – for the good of all – everything works for my good. In choosing my path, I ask myself, is it true, is it kind, is it just, is it loving? As I take the high road, I find joy in the journey! |

Lovelution The whole point of living is to learn how to love. The basic rule is this: to find love, I have to be love. No matter how smart I am or what sacrifices I may have made, everything else fades: love is all that matters in my life. Love cannot cohabit with non-love. My strength, my stability, my serenity, my joy, my happiness, my well-being, life, are all about love: it is all that lasts. I am here to learn to express and receive love. I am growing, never giving up, and I am living proof of “lovelution!” I love the life I am making. |

The Game of Life To play successfully the Game of Life, I train my mind to image health, wealth, and happiness, so these are the results I bring into my life. Life is not a battle. Love is the fulfillment of the law. The Christ within me – God’s image and likeness – has never failed, and always wins the Game of Life. I play fair. I trust in God as my unfailing supply and my good now comes to me abundantly, quickly, under grace, and in perfect ways. All power is given to me through right thinking to bring my heaven upon my earth, and this is the goal of the “Game of Life!” |

Home By Dark What a gift to find a moment to feel at home in the presence of God all around me in my prayer time. What a gift to feel at home, safe in the Presence in my life, right now. What a gift to find a place in life where they know me, love me for who I am; a place that is home, free from fears, where all they ask is that I be home by dark. |

So Far, So Good We welcome Unity favorite David Roth this Sunday, as we also remember and honor the words of Dr. Martin Luther King. “As we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back.” “With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope . . . .” “With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together . . . .” “With this faith we will be able. . . to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day. . . . Let freedom ring!” Are we moving along on our collective journey of human progress? Well, although there are certainly many areas of our expression that could still use a lot of work, we look for the signs of progress, and we declare together, "So far, so good!" |

In the Shelter of Each Other You will love the music for our service this Sunday! It will sing through the windows of your heart forever. Paul speaks of the spiritual unfoldment of the soul as a great race. He wrote, “Run so as to win” (Corinthians 9:24), and “Forgetting what lies behind but straining forward to what lies ahead, I continue my pursuit toward the goal, the prize of God's upward calling, in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14). In Hebrews, we read: “Let us rid ourselves of every burden . . . that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us” (Hebrews 12:1). We will sing together the traditional African spiritual song that goes like this: “Lord, guide my feet while I run this race . . . . Hold my hand while I run this race . . . . Stand by me as I run this race . . . . Guide my heart as I run this race . . . . I’m Your child as I run this race.” Let us remember that we are all God’s children and God’s dwelling is with the human race. So, we are all on the same team, dwelling in the shelter of each other. |
